Hello there fireworksgurus! It has been a long time since I had last posted a tutorial, so here it goes. I'm kinda lazy doing it step by step, if you still cannot grasp the tut' , please download the png file and open it in fw.

Here are some info you should know 1st :

a.) Edge:Feather , Think of feather as your secret recipe, to make the object , blend with the background. Try making a shape, or a circle, and change the edge to feather, try to control the amount, feathering too much wouldnt be a good idea

b.) Texture:Metal/Wood/Wood2/etc: , Texture + feather is a lethal combo. Try making a shape using the pen tool, or use some primitive shape, then apply texture, try to experiment on the right amount. Its also a good idea to use textures from other sources, or images, websites like deviantart.com or sxc.hu has royalty free images which you can use as textures or pattern fills.

c.) Pattern Fill : Changing the fill color of an object to pattern is a good idea. Adding some texture to it could be great too. Try to look for patterns or images from other sources too.

d.) Layer Modes : Vivid Light , Multiply, Screen , Etc. Try to use something which would better a better match, usually I prefer trial and error on finding the right layer mode for the job.

e.) Hue/Saturation or Curves : Do you want some other color options for your design ? Its a good idea to play with these.

f.) Gradients: Linear / Radial / Cone. Gradients too can apply a significant change to your object, or shape. I usually linear, radial, cone, other gradient types are not totally dependable.

g.) Stacking or Layering. Think of putting one thing in front of another, repeating the process over and over. The tutorial shows, that putting one object with a feather/texture effect , over another but with different values could change the look of your image. You may want to duplicate an object over and over, with different settings, its something fun, and you will notice the change.

Anyway, lets start with how I made it.

1.) Draw a shape using the rectangle tool, use linear gradient for the fill type of the shape.

2.) Steps 2 to 5. In step 2, I draw a shape using the pen tool, applied some settings on the Edge and Texture. Repeating the process to the other steps, changing the layer mode, adding a pattern fill, you are totally free to decide what the outcome is.

6.) Group all objects, this where I applied the curves and hue saturation filter. Try to experiment on the settings

9.) This could be a final step if you choose to stop here , dont underestimate the stroke and the different stroke types. Try drawing something fancy, using the stroke outline online w/ no stroke color, it kinda works like an object with feather/or texture.

10.) I wanted a different color for the design, so I selected everything, and converted it to a bitmap. Applied the curves filter.

11.) Some of the texture might overlap on the design, especially if you use feather too much, so you need to crop the unwanted areas.

12.) You can also crop the design using the shape which you create. To do this, try drawing a shape using the pen tool , then convert it to a marquee, press delete, and voila! ehhehe
