Hi again,
I noticed the topic raised by "obaluba" (See: http://www.fireworks...showtopic=6781) with regards to creating an "e" simble that resembled the @ sign.

This inspired me to recap on some things I did a fair few months back for a client with regards to making tidy swirls.
I've made this tutorial to show how the "e" symbol can be made using accuracy and aided by the Fireworks Grid Tool.
If you don't use the Grid Tool already, try it, it helps when you need to make sure things are aligned and tidy.

==========
You will need to view the sample image on this post in Full View as at the moment the grid looks messed up.

PREPARATION
===========
Firstly, create a new page, say 600px x 600px.
Next go to View->Grid->Edit Grid...
Make sure "Snap to Grid" and "View Grid" are ticked and the grid size is set to 15px x 15px.

It is VERY important that you understand that shapes and points (when dragged) will snap [align] to the grid squares. This is to ensure accuracy of positioning and relative sizes. The grid is useful for us here because we want to make sure the swirl that goes round is always 15px thick.

So with all steps, be sure that shapes are snapped to the grid and everything is in multiples of 15.

TUTORIAL
=============

1). Create 2 circles.
Large = 180px x 180px (chop it in half vertically)
Small = 165px x 150px

Overlap them so the smaller is in the top center.

2). Select both circles then go to Modify->Combine Paths->Union

3). Copy the new shape and change its colour (to help us see what we are doing). Shrink the
copied shape so that it fits exactly inside the original. (grab each edge and drag it in 1 square, it should snap
into place.
Finally, zoom in on the area that arrow points at in the diagram and manually drag any points that are
slightly out of place. If you drag them they should snap to the grid. Make sure that it looks even.

4). When done, select both shapes and go to Modify->Combine Paths->Punch

5). Do exactly the same procedure as Steps 1 and 2 except this time start with 2 smaller circles.
Large = 120px x 120px (chop it in half vertically)
Small = 165px x 150px

6). Place the smaller shape inside the large shape so they align as shown. Again, zoom in on the area
the arrow points to and drag the points so they are definately snapped onto a grid line.
Once you are happy, select both shapes and then go to Modify->Combine Paths->Union.

7). Create another circle 105px x 90px
Chop it in half horizontally and place it in the location shown on the diagram.

8). Select both shapes and go to Modify->Combine Paths->Punch

-----

I'm not going any further but you can see how the concept works.
A bit more tweaking and you will have yourself an accurately measured (e) symbol.
