Just in case you didnt know, in Adobe Fireworks CS3 you can now open or import native Adobe Illustrator CS3 AI files. This is such a relief since Fw8 and below only supported Illustrator 7/88 and below and the support wasnt that great. Now, there is a lot more support with Fireworks9!

Hey Alan

Thanks for the TechNote - it's good to know the limitations beforehand to avoid frustration.

I did find one mistake in the document though...

Strokes lost on text

"Otherwise need to reapply the stroke when you open the file in Fireworks." should read "Otherwise you will need to reapply the stroke when you open the file in Fireworks."

Cheers

I save my files in Fireworks CS3 and try to open on Illustrator, it doesn't work, all files have a flatten layer and in some cases the text is normal, but the rest is flatten.

How I can solve this? It doesn't seem like the TechNote

Hi Kanustep -

Un-fortunately support for AI is only for import in CS3. The Fireworks team is currently investigating the effort to save as a AI file.

Thanks!
