.. a promised tutorial from a lot of time ago. Finally got time to do it.

You will need to install Almathera filters before in order to complete the tutorial.
How to install them

Link to filters: http://punkinstuff.t.../almathera.html

and pattern resources you could use for the curtain:

Really nice one Lian. But only thing i couldnt understand is "Do a mask shape path, select bothlayers, curtain and path, and go to Modify>Mask>Group as mask.
*Be sure to use a white shapein the path since the default type mask for thsi action is Graysscale apearance, and other colors used will make to fadethe opacity ofthe curtain."
can you explain it further? and also want that wood panel effect also plzz. Its really nice tutorial.

There are two type of vector masks, one done with the 'path outlines' and other using a 'grayscale appareance'. The method I used is for going to the grayscale type.

This article describes very well the type and uses of the masks.

To create the clone I had the same problem. I solved it by clicking the weblayer in the layer panel and then selected the layer again and then it could be cloned.

With applying the pattern I had that problem increase the tolerance of the graident tool with the pattern selcted to full 256 I think, that worked for me.

Hope that helps

See if this helps:

Group as Mask Demo:
https://admin.adobe....5153/p23705648/

Note: I messed up the first time by not changing the purple color to white before Grouping as Mask. Make sure you color the part you want to be masked "white" like Lian suggested.

Hope this helps.

you should update your flash player, and see if that changes anything.

go to www.adobe.com and click on the "Get Adobe Flash Player" graphic up top.

I really wish I could Raja, but I recorded it via Adobe Connect and its a bunch of interwined files on a hosted server. You might try adjusting the speed of the presentation from the top navigation from DSL to Dial-up.

the property inspector is the panel generally below the canvas. depending on what you have selected (pen tool for example) you can set the various strokes, fills, blend modes, etc.

I believe in order to view the video, you MIGHT have to have Adobe Acrobat Reader 8, because i notice it's using the new Adobe "Connect" feature. When i installed Reader 8 it had to do the "Connect" feature. I do have Flash Player 9 and i'm using IE 6. I had no problem vewing the tutorial, and a good job Alan. By the way, Adoe Reader 8 is free. Try upgrading to that and then try to view the video.
